Rossall Cricket

Rossall has a proud cricket tradition of producing both successful teams and many a county cricketer. Cricket continues to thrive even with the pressures of external examinations and looks is going from strength to strength. The re-emergence of a 3rd XI is something the school is very proud of and it is good to see so many international students willing to learn the game.

Currently the school has several cricketers involved in the Lancashire, Cumbria or Cheshire County setups. Coaching wise we are fortunate to have a highly motivated and talented Common Room with 5 holding the ECB Level 2 coaching award. The school is also fortunate to have 4 splendid cricket pitches in a most spectacular setting.

Fixtures are played against local Lancashire schools as well as King William’s on the Isle of Man, Shrewsbury from Shropshire, Sedbergh & St. Bees from Cumbria and Giggleswick from Yorkshire. Eight school sides play each week including a Ladies 1st XI.  The 1st Xl also play the MCC, Northern Nomads and the Old Rossallians. The School is proud to be once again hosting Lancashire age group cricket and look forward to our own junior sides playing Cumbria for the first time in May 2010. The 1st XI also hosts a twenty20 festival with coloured clothing, black sight screens and the white ball at the end of June. Touring is an important part in the development of Rossall cricketers. The 1st XI travelled to Antigua and St. Kitts in April 2010 and the U15 development squad to India in December 2010.

Whether your child is a county cricketer or playing the game for recreation, there is a place for them in the Rossall cricket setup.
