Flower Festival with Local Craft Displays

Exhibition of Art by Tom Briggs

Chapel; Friday 7th March – Tuesday 11th March; 10am – 6pm

Rossall School Chapel comes into bloom with the return of the Rossall Flower Festival.

A floral fiesta throughout the historic chapel of St John the Baptist, with local craft displays and an exhibition by local artist, Tom Briggs.

Tom Briggs is an illustrator and painter, best known by the school for his watercolours of Rossall which are used for the school Christmas card and are purchased as private commissions. However, he has worked extensively in the Far East, published several books and exhibited his paintings in Singapore, Hong Kong, London, and of course, the Lake District. In this exhibition, there will be paintings and pencil drawings of Rossall, including a new series of water colour sketches of the more hidden parts of the school. There will also be water colour paintings of Venice for sale.

Infant School Concert:

Museum Theatre; Friday 7th March; 2pm

Often a highlight of the week, be enthralled and enchanted by the talent of the youngest members of the School in what promises to be a memorable occasion.

Junior School Concert:

Museum Theatre; Thursday 6th March; 7pm

Always lively, the enthusiastic youngsters perform in their Arts Week Extravaganza.

A Lesson in Murder:

Starting in Mitre & Fleur-de-Lys House; Friday 7th March; 7pm and 8.30pm
Starting in the Senior School Common Room; Saturday 8th March; 7pm and 8.30pm

Rossall’s own Agatha Christie, Mrs Jean Briggs, wows audiences with her latest play. Following the previous successes of A is for Arsenic and C is for Cyanide, A Lesson in Murder will be one that we won’t forget. This is a promenade performance with limited tickets, so book early.

Intensive, good humoured competition in this exciting day of musical talent. Soloists of all ages and abilities display in the afternoon and the evening shows the ensembles.

The Rosscars

The big screen calls for the Rossall film makers. The annual showcase and awards ceremony promises to bring a little bit of Hollywood to Fleetwood. One night only, a must see!

House Arts Quiz

The fiercest battle in the Rossall calendar, the prestigious prize of the Arts Week “mop-‘ed” is once again up for grabs.

Music@Twilight

A  series of short chamber concerts held in the Memorial Chapel in the late evening. 

Tuesday 11th March: Dr Andrew Keeling (Flute) and Stuart Corrie (Piano)

The eminent musician, Dr Keeling entertains with a varied programme, including works by Poulenc, Bach and Keeling.

With music ranging from Gershwin to Pirates of the Caribbean, from solos to ensembles, the Middle School musicians captivate their audiences with their splendid talents.

Charity Art Auction

The Literary Society Dinner

The Literary Society Dinner, an exciting new addition to the Arts Week, is expected to be a hit. In this inaugural event, Sir Bernard de Hoghton will speak on Shakespeare in Lancashire.

Mozart Requiem
