Year 1’s Unit of Inquiry has been “How we express ourselves” We have been looking at stories through music, art and drama. The children have really enjoyed the Inquiry which resulted in them putting on an ‘outstanding’ performance of a play that they had specially written themselves called the Animal Boogie. In fact they did everything from designing the stage, making their own costumes and headdresses, making the music for each animal, making the dances, programmes, invitations and even ordering the refreshments
There has been a lot of action from the children, they brought hundreds of animals for the stage! Many animal books and videos and numerous jokes—especially Nayana
The whole inquiry has been great. The children have learned a lot about co-operating and communicating. They have been so creative. Also they have used many skills—social (working together) thinking and self management.
