International Study Centre

Rossall International Study Centre (ISC) prepares international pupils for entry into mainstream British boarding schools all over the UK. To do this we:

• Develop your English language skills.
• Develop your confidence in using the English language.
• Develop your subject specific knowledge (for example in Mathematics, Science, Business Studies etc.) so it fits with British education.
• Develop your academic skills so that you can be successful in a British classroom.

We also:

• Encourage you to mix with British pupils on the sports field and in your free time, so that you practise your English in real life.
• Provide you with a full cultural programme with trips to the major cities, museums and theatres of Manchester, Liverpool, and Leeds.
• Provide you with a full sporting programme, including the chance to play sport with British pupils.
• Help you to celebrate culturally specific events like “Chinese New Year”, “Easter”, and fasting during “Ramadan”.
• Help you to understand British culture and British boarding school culture.

All this is achieved by having well qualified, and experienced teachers who have lived and worked all over the world. Our teachers are not only able to deliver their subjects at the appropriate speed and language level for international students, but also understand, from personal experience, the difficulties you may have settling into a foreign culture.
