Speech and Drama Club: an Interview with Mrs Mistry by Joseph (5C)
Come and join the Speech and Drama club. This is an opportunity for you to grow in confidence, to be taught how to speak correctly and be able to speak to a large number of people. Speech and drama gives you opportunities to express yourself and have fun.
Mrs. Mistry who teaches Speech and Drama gave me an exclusive interview, which I will share with you. She attended drama school and became a professional actress. By chance she took up teaching Speech and Drama at a theatre school which she enjoyed doing and decided to follow this path to impart her knowledge and enthusiasm to the younger generation.
Mrs Mistry explained that Speech and Drama involves building up of confidence, improving speech and to bring out a person’s character. She does this by finding pieces that suit the student, which they enjoy and have fun doing. This is where the student can throw themselves into the character with vocal expressions. She took the words out of my mouth, I totally agree.
You get the opportunity to show what you have learnt in the Lamda exams and local festivals. The high results gained by the students shows how hard Mrs Mistry workss with her students in preparing them and perfecting them to such a high standard.
Catherine and Jasmine (5C), when interviewed expressed the same views that it’s fun and exciting in acting out pieces and entering competitions. Pretending to be someone else and being a different person, the character you play, allows you to express your feelings in a good way. I agree.
